Creating Digital Career Guidance

Students of DSPU (UE 2327) have joined the project’s ideas “Future Educators, Future Careers: Guiding Students for Tomorrow” and enhanced them. Our aim was to:

• To equip future teachers with the ability to support school students in career awareness and planning.
• To build understanding of how career guidance differs across countries, cultures, and education systems.
• To strengthen digital literacy, collaboration, and communication skills among teacher education students.
• To encourage future teachers to reflect on their own career identities and professional growth.

As a result, students managed to identify key competencies needed in 21st-century careers; research and present information about different professions and employment trends in Ukraine (interview audio recording https://t.me/c/2979324351/127, https://t.me/c/2979324351/123, infographics).

Unfortunately, students couldn’t collaborate internationally using Etwinning platform, sharing ideas and comparing educational practices of other countries.

However, every participant reflected on professional identity and discussed career development pathways in teaching.

At the end of the project implementation future teachers were  able to develop both key soft skills and specific professional competencies (e.g. to dissect labor market data and analyze the target audience's needs and interests applied when creating the unique brand and designing engaging, non-traditional content formats; to improve Collaboration and Communication skill, especially when coordinating visual and textual content creation and managing roles within the project; to shape strategy and project and time-management skills; to level up proficiency in using social media platforms (Telegram, Instagram, TikTok”) as content creation and distribution tools; to foster the ability to translate a mission and philosophy into a consistent and attractive Visual Identity, to develop skills in researching complex information (careers, skills) and synthesizing it into short, engaging social media posts.

Franko - a man of books 📚✨

The library is one of the main departments of the university, where an orderly collection of books and other materials is collected. It provides students and teachers with all the necessary information for study, science and educational work, and also conducts educational, cultural and research activities.

The library was established in May 1940 on the basis of books from the Drohobych Gymnasium, which educated many famous figures - writers, artists and priests, including Ivan Franko, Vasyl Stefanyk, Les Martovych, Fr. Kyrylo Seletsky and others.

Today, the library of DSPU is a modern information center with a collection of over 730 thousand copies. Professional library staff constantly update its work so that it meets the needs of modern students and teachers.

Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University combines historical traditions and modern educational approaches. Founded in 1940, it has developed along with the country, preserving classical pedagogy and introducing the latest teaching methods. It is based on high educational standards and the words of Ivan Franko: “The school stands as a teacher.”

Teachers prepare specialists who are able to think critically, act boldly and help children learn. For university educators, education is more than a profession, it is a calling.

Many people think that being a student of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology Faculty means just reading old books. But let’s look at it through the lens of our future careers! 

In our recent survey about the Ukrainian job market, we discovered that communication and information management are key to success. As philologists, we are not just studying grammar; we are becoming masters of learning to navigate different cultures and contexts; knowing how to find reliable information among hundreds of sources like news, social media, and career portals.

Being a "Philology student" today means being a future leader in education, translation, and digital content creation. We are the ones who will tell Ukraine's story to the world.
